In various shapes and forms, the following has been making the rounds:

This has a ring of truth to it, which is why people think it's funny. But it's false - unless the woman in question is failing to protect her fertility by getting tested and using condoms, or is failing to use birth control.

I think that the label "slut" for women who like sex is spread primarily by women who have a lower sex drive to begin with, and use sex as a means of manipulating their partners. If such women did not shun and discredit other women who genuinely like sex, then their undesirability would become apparent and their manipulativeness would lose power.

I think you are missing the point. Do have sex with many different attractive partners of the oposite sex requires skill or great wealth for men.

For a woman to do the same it requires much less skill and no wealth, just reasonable looks, since men are less picky (which makes perfect evolutionary sense and is backed up by numerus studies).

What is really happening here is people recongnizing the result of the sexual marketplace.

BTW I challenge you to claim that sexual monogmay was not sexual socialism for average men at the expense of women and the top 5% of men. It was however more understandable than regular socialism because succesfull reproduction is a zero sum game for men even if sex with a woman is not.

If I understand correctly, you're then saying that the "she's a slut" attitude is spread by men who are insecure in their sexual prowess, and wish to discourage women in general from being non-monogamous, so that they can more easily have a woman who will be monogamous with them?

I find that unlikely, because men are always trying to get laid, and accusing women of being sluts pretty much annuls one's chances of getting laid by them.
